Build a High-Speed Network Infrastructure with Fiber Optic Solutions

Expanse’s networking communication solutions support the development and growth of high-capacity fiber optic cable infrastructure. Our solutions include the design, construction, installation, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of various fiber optic networks to increase efficiency. We are proud to employ ETA and BICSI certified fiber optic technicians.

Fiber Optic Fusion Technology Enables Expansion While Maintaining High Speeds

When terminating fiber optic cables to expand a network, there is a risk of light loss that can reduce network speed. With mechanical splicing, the loss of light is higher because the fibers are simply aligned and not physically joined. Fiber optic fusion terminations minimize loss and reflectance when terminating fiber optic cables. The process utilizes heat to fuse optical fibers, facilitating the continuous transmission of light over long or short distances.

Aerial Fiber Optic Solutions

In addition to standard fiber offerings, Expanse also provides aerial fiber optic solutions integrated with services provided by our Electrical and Field Service teams. This includes design, construction, installation, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of the following:

Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) Solutions:

OPGW, which stands for Optical Ground Wire, is a type of cable used in overhead power transmission and distribution lines. It combines the functions of a ground wire for lightning protection and an optical fiber cable for data transmission.

All Dielectric Self Supporting (ADSS) Solutions:

  • Ideal for installation in distribution as well as transmission environments, even when live-line installations are required
  • No strand/messenger wire or lashing required
  • Installation is achieved in a single pass
  • Economical and simple means of building a fiber optic network

Strand/Messenger and Lash Solutions:

  • Cables can be lashed to existing strand/messenger
  • Strand/messenger provides mechanical support for the fiber cable
  • Continuous installation with slack access loops at poles allows mid-span access for terminal addition
  • Available in higher fiber counts
Accurately Test Your Fiber Infrastructure Performance

Expanse utilizes advanced optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) technology to accurately verify splice loss, measure length and find faults.

An OTDR combines a laser source and a detector to provide an inside view of the fiber link to calculate:

  • Distance to each event (connector, splice, bend, break)
  • Loss and reflection of each event
  • Total link length
  • Total link loss
  • Fiber attenuation
Advantages of Fiber Optic Networks
  • Greater bandwidth
  • Faster speeds
  • Longer transmission distances than ethernet
  • Greater flexibility
  • Improved latency
  • Stronger security
  • Electromagnetic noise immunity
  • Intrinsically safe
